Chili Peppers out, MGK in for the 2022 Billboard Music Awards

The BBMAs are doing a bit of a shakeup ahead of this weekend’s big event.

Machine Gun Kelly and Dan + Shay were added as performers at the 2022 Billboard Music Awards while Hot red peppers dropped out of the range.
The BBMAs made the announcement on Twitter saying, “Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Red Hot Chili Peppers will be unable to perform at the Billboard Music Awards on Sunday. They can’t wait to see you on the road this summer!
The Chili Peppers last performed at the BBMAs in 1999 when they performed “Scar Tissue” and released Snoop Dogg for a coverage of Funkadelic track “Red Hot Mama”.
Additions from MGK (which will debut at the BBMAs this year) and Dan + Shay round out an already star-studded lineup with Rauwn Alejandro, Latte, Burna Boy, Megan you stallion, Florence + The Machine, Maxwell, Morgan Wallen, Sonic Silk, Becky G, Ed Sheeran, Elle King and Miranda Lambertand Travis Scott.
On the rewards side, The weekend leads the way with 17 total nominations. Doja Cat is next as she is also the top female finalist with 14 nominations. Kanye West, Olivia Rodrigueand justin bieber are all tied for third with 13 nominations. The BBMAs also announced Mary J. Blige as the recipient of the Icon Price at this year’s show.
The 2022 Billboard Music Awards will air live on NBC from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on May 15 at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT. Before the big night, be sure to check out Audacy’s exclusive BBMA radio station now.
