Duran Duran thinks their music videos from the 1980s would make them “cancel” in the current climate.

The ‘Hungry Like A Wolf’ hitmakers have gained a reputation for their racy and glamorous promos, but frontman Simon Le Bon has claimed they won’t be allowed to do them the same way now.

He told the Daily Star newspaper’s Wired column: “‘Girls On Film’ is the one that got censored because we had naked women in it.

“Nobody would make this video now because you might get canceled or ‘Me Too-ed.'”

The 62-year-old star also reflected on how the music industry has changed, with music videos taking a step back from previous generations.

He added: “All kinds of things have changed. In a way, YouTube has opened things up, but public perceptions have changed.

“It’s weird how evolution has happened, as different media platforms have come and gone.

“MTV came along and morphed into something else and they don’t put out as many music videos now.”

And Duran Duran’s own tastes have changed, with Simon admiring The Clockworks’ video on their track “Throw It All Away.”

He said, “I love lyric videos. There’s a band called The Clockworks with a lyric video, which is just words on buildings, and it’s amazing.”

Meanwhile, the band – completed by Nick Rhodes, John Taylor and Roger Taylor – are set to release new album ‘Future Past’ later this week, and they were ‘at each other’s throats’. to make the disc while locked.
