Taylor Swift won the prestigious Woman of the Year award at the 2012 BBMAs wearing a super feminine Elie Saab dress in red – the name of her infamous album which will be released five months later.

Miley Cyrus turned heads in an oversized white Jean Paul Gaultier blazer worn with no underwear – no pants. The singer’s retro bouffant style hair gave the look a playful feel.

Jordin Sparks took the stage at the 2012 Billboard Music Awards as part of a tribute to Whitney Houston. Before performing, she posed for photos in a Diane von Furstenberg lace mini dress accessorized with a shimmering diamond cuff.

Three-time nominee Usher was the picture of cool in an electric blue suit paired with gray shoes.

Zooey Deschanel’s outfit for the 2012 Las Vegas awards show was a bit heavy. The actress, who presented an award to Taylor Swift that night, looked 60s chic in a sleeveless silver-embellished Moschino cocktail dress, but between the dark tights and her thick fringe, she looked also smelled heavy and wintry.

Lacey Schwimmer’s BBMA look had a very Las Vegas vibe to it. The dancer opted for a shimmering black and gold mini dress with sky-high pumps and went wild with her hair, adding candy pink and blue streaks to the ends.

Presenter Julianne Hough sparkled and shone in a strapless mini dress covered in silver sequins and sequins.

Natasha Bedingfield, who paid tribute to Donna Summer at the 2012 BBMAs, went all out in a mint green dress adorned with pearls and sheer tulle.

Nelly Furtado, who sang “Big Hoops (Bigger the Better)” at the show, which took place May 20, 2012, matched the white carpet with a white Alberta Ferretti lace dress she wore with a bra- Exposed black throat and an elaborate collar- stylish collar.

Gladys Knight, who attended the show as a presenter, walked the red carpet in a classic black wrap dress with a sparkly half-belt.

Monica was another star who opted to wear white for the show at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The R&B singer looked angelic and sweet in a long-sleeved gown with a tasteful cutout in the middle of her bust that ended in a delicate, shimmering applique.

Five-time nominee Justin Bieber chose to be super casual as he headed to the show, wearing a white t-shirt, dark pants with a chain detail, white sneakers and a half-denim jacket with a hood.

Jurnee Smollett chose a very va-va-voom look for the 2012 BBMAs – a teal BCBGMAXAZRIA dress, which was a popular choice at celebrity events at the time. She paired the bodycon dress with sexy black peep toe ankle boots and voluminous curls.

Brandy looked outstanding in a purple Herve Leger bandage dress by Max Azria. She highlighted the rose gold elements of the dress with a pair of rose gold Christian Louboutin pumps.

Chrissy Teigen supported then-fiancé John Legend at the 2012 BBMAs, where he paid tribute to Whitney Houston. John played it safe and let his sweetheart stand out in her structured red cocktail dress, which felt high against her blunt bangs.

Lisa Marie Presley, who presented at the 2012 Billboard Music Awards, looked European chic in a white ruffled maxi skirt topped with a perfectly tailored black blazer.

Downtown, Julie Brown strutted the white carpet in a low-rise white pantsuit accessorized with a silver belt and loose tie. She completed the outfit with a black fedora with silver embellishment, which tied the menswear-inspired ensemble together.
