Ranveer Singh’s label to release 5 music videos for the hearing impaired, aims to empower community
Ranveer Singh’s film Gully Boy helped him reconnect and explore his love for music. The actor has backed big new talent in Indian rap circles and even started his own label named IncInk. Today, Ranveer’s record company is set to release five new music videos that have been created in Indian Sign Language for the hearing impaired.
According to a Mid-Day report, Ranveer and his team highlighted the issues faced by the deaf community. Today, on the International Day of Sign Languages, the actor and his record company will release five new music videos in Indian Sign Language (ISL), specially designed for the hearing impaired.
The music videos were created by artists like Kaam Bhari, Spitfire, and Kiss Nuka, among others. The musical artists worked on the music video in collaboration with deaf signers from Hear A Million. Ranveer’s record label YouTube channel will also launch a 12-hour digital campaign to raise awareness of their needs and struggles.
Speaking about the initiative, Ranveer said, “If there’s anything we’ve come to appreciate over the last year and a half, it’s the power of being there for each other. My message young people would be to keep doing the work they do, while (trying to) create an inclusive space by working with the deaf community.”
In 2019, Ranveer even performed with an ISL Spitfire performer and musician on national television. The actor also reportedly advocated and urged the Indian government to declare ISL as the country’s 23rd official language.
