‘Encanto’ and ‘The White Lotus’ Win 2022 ASCAP Screen Music Awards – Billboard

Germaine Franco‘s Oscar nominee for the acclaimed Disney/Pixar film Encanto is the ASCAP Composers’ Choice Awards Film Score of the Year at the 2022 ASCAP Screen Music Awards.
Composer Cristobal Tapia de Veerwork for the HBO Max series The White Lotus won two Composers’ Choice Awards for TV Score of the Year and TV Theme of the Year.
In addition to Film Music, Television Theme and Television Music, two other Composers’ Choice Awards were presented to amanda jones for Documentary Music of the Year for Dreamland: The Burning of Black Wall Street and to Wataru Hokoyama for video game of the year score for Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart.
Winners of the Composers’ Choice Awards are chosen by ASCAP’s community of composers and songwriters.
In the other categories, the best film at the box office goes to Michael Giacchino for Spider-Man: No Coming Home; David Vanacore is named the overall winner for Most Performed Themes and recognized for his work on shows, including Survivor, naked and scared and Hell’s Kitchen; Matthew Hawkins, Maurice “m.0.” jackson and Neil Martin bring home the network’s best tv series for their main theme for NCISwhile John Sereda wins Best Cable TV Series for Music Featured in Historical Drama When the heart calls you.
The awards are virtual again and starting at noon ET on Monday, May 2, the ASCAP Screen Music Awards will begin rolling out behind-the-screen videos, acceptance speeches and other content through May 5 via @ASCAP on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook and @ASCAPScreen on Instagram.
Additionally, as part of the ASCAP Experience, a special ASCAP Screen Music Awards panel, “Main Stream Music: Composing for TV in the Age of Streaming,” will air on the ASCAP YouTube channel on June 5. May at 3 p.m. ET. The panel will feature hit streaming series composers Carter Burwell (The morning show), Natalie Holt (Loki) and Siddhartha Khosla (Only murders in the building).
