Miranda Lambert and Elle King were the definition of peak Las Vegas debauchery during their performance of “Drunk (And I Don’t Wanna Go Home)” at the 2022 Billboard Music Awards on Sunday (May 15).

The country stars were introduced by show host Diddy, who noted that he liked the song because it encapsulates so many past storylines he found himself in.

For the performance, Lambert and King swapped the retro wedding attire they sport in the song’s music video for matching fringed, embroidered, and dazzling suits, which added an extra splash of fun during the hit single on the joys of drunken revelry.

But this party song comes with some serious good faith. “Drunk (And I Don’t Wanna Go Home)” reached No. 1 on the Country Airplay chart in April, making Lambert and King the first female duo to top the chart in nearly 30 years, after Reba McEntire. and Linda Davis’ 1993 hit “Does He Love You.” “Drunk” also reached No. 37 on the Billboard Hot 100 in April. Released last February, the duo came after Lambert took King on the road with her on a recent tour.

During the BBMA performance, the singers were backed by a pair of guitarists and a drummer, with the country stars swapping verses for the performance, sharing the song’s anthemic chorus and hitting a myriad of high notes while bursts of flame punctuated the climatic moments.

” I can’t ! King yelled at the end in response to the idea of going home. The camera then turned to the audience, where DJ Khaled was seen nodding and saying “it’s true” in agreement.

The Billboard Music Awards are produced by MRC Live & Alternative, a division of MRC. MRC and Penske Media are co-parent companies of Billboard.
