Students vying for new county music awards
The showcase will be held at the Place Theater in Oakengates, from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. on October 6, and shortlisted artists and bands from across the county will perform.
Finalists with a Telford College connection include Niamh Turley-Moon, Anna Silvers and Tripple Jayy, while many other music and creative students will help the evening itself with live broadcast, photography and post-production. production.
Niamh is up for best single, Anna is shortlisted for best video, and Tripple Jayy is up for the rap and hip hop award.
Andy Turner, Head of Learners for Creative and Music at Telford College, said the event was a wonderful opportunity for students to get exposure and gain invaluable work experience.
“We are very proud to see several musicians who have studied with us shortlisted for this brand new awards scheme, which is a welcome addition to the Shropshire music scene.
“Our music students will be on hand to watch and support the event, and a couple will take on liaison roles behind the scenes.
“Our media students are supporting the live broadcast of the event, operating the cameras and the live stream which will be broadcast via a paid Facebook event.
“They will also provide photography services for the event and video editing post-production services.”
He added: “At Telford College we are always keen to encourage our music students to make the most of performance opportunities to build their confidence and to help them learn more about how performing in front of an audience is. a totally different experience.”
The awards were hosted by husband-and-wife entrepreneurs Timothy and Katie Rogers, of Telford.
They run a non-profit community benefit corporation – CultureTainment – which provides artist support, mentorship, training, community workshops, events and networking opportunities with the goal of providing the services free of charge to the extent possible, to the whole community by subsidizing through grants, donations, events and merchandise.
The Shropshire Music Awards are designed to recognize and celebrate outstanding talent and achievement in the county, and all genres of music will be featured.
Organizers say they hope to not only deliver a flawless live show on the night, but also celebrate the music’s contribution to the local community and create networking opportunities across the county’s music community.
